Van Wife Bed System

The Van Wife Components Multifunction Bed System is a highly adaptable furniture solution designed for van interiors, offering various configurations such as a platform bed, bunk beds, couch, desk, or table. This system can be vertically mounted on the van walls (two per side) to maximize space in the van’s rear area.

The system uses adjustable panels that connect to each other and our J channel, with thumb screws securing the panels in the predrilled J channel holes.

Our predrilled J channel has spaced holes for setting the locking bolts, preventing sliding and creating a stable backrest in couch mode.

Each panel is 18 inches deep and adjusts from 60 to 72 inches wide. The J channel is 75 inches long. For proper installation, ensure your walls fit these dimensions and are as parallel as possible. The J channel should be adequately supported, either by attachment to framing members or other bracing systems. We provide 66-inch and 75-inch tubing solutions to span a flare or shim out a wall. Each panel can support up to 400 pounds when correctly installed.

Although there are numerous configurations, we typically recommend using four panels and three sets of J channels to create three mounting heights, allowing for various setups such as a platform bed, bunk beds, table, couch, and desk. Even in shorter vans like the Sprinter 144, the fourth panel can be used for bunk beds and as a storage shelf.

Three panels create a 54-inch platform, while four panels create a 72-inch platform.

This system is not intended for use as seating while the van is in motion, and we do not recommend adding seatbelts or using the system while driving. Secure all panels before driving and do not drive with any leg systems in place. Panels must be strapped in place if hung vertically while the van is in motion.
